1 Comment on Adventures in YA Episode 048: The Australians

  1. I was really excited to find this podcast, and even more excited to hear an episode about Australian authors, as an Australia. But I thought a lot more research could’ve gone into this :/ Even just talking to an Aussie reader. John Marsden is a classic Aussie writer, we could’ve told you all about his amazing writing, and why his Tomorrow series is addictive and raw. Melina Marchetta wrote a classic Australian coming of age that almost every adolescent girl reads at school, Looking for Alibrandi, which almost wasn’t even mentioned. Fiona Wood writes books that are delightfully Australian – showing Aussie teens themselves in books in a way they don’t usually get. It would be cool to do an episode where you talk about this stuff and really get into why Australian authors are worth reading 🙂

PS. If you haven’t found it already, I think you were thinking of Tessa Masterson Goes to Prom. We don’t have prom in Australia.
